In her practice, Neta Ben Dov explores social, cultural and physical boundaries around the body. From childlike expressions of the body to different ways we discipline and control it and the anxieties that relate to it. Through videos and drawings she engages with mindfulness, gender and trance-like meditative situations. She creates imaginative narratives that allow playfulness and exploration of the materiality of the body: its movement, outside and inside surfaces, the wholeness of it, its fragments and the emotions of guilt, happiness, fear, sadness and excitement that relate to it. In her process she often collects images from the media, from advertisements to cartoons, that inspire the visual language and the narrative of the videos.
Neta lives and works in The Netherlands and is a graduate of HKU Fine Arts.
